Jordan Spieth closing out The Open was the stuff of legends, but not quite Tiger…

After a dismal 37 on the front 9 at Royal Birkdale Sunday, an all too familiar collapse looks inevitable for Jordan Spieth.  In an attempt to be aggressive on 13, Spieth hit one of the worst shots, I have ever seen by a professional golfer, a massive 100-yard slice.  Leading to a 20-minute debacle that left playing partner Matt Kuchar sitting in the fairway.

After a trip back and forth, and around the practice green, high rough, and the equipment trucks Spieth finally hit his third shot and caught a lucky break as he hit it poorly but was able to go up and down to save bogey.  This was the turning point in Spieth’s round as he went on a monumental charge finishing; birdie, eagle, birdie, birdie, par.  This is the first glimpse of Tiger Wood’s like the play we have seen from Spieth down the stretch in a Major.  It is that classic fuck you mode that Tiger Woods was notorious for, where he would defy all odds and play on a level that no one else could reach or even come near. It is that next level that makes champions, as Matt Kuchar got to witness first hand as he saw Jordan close out The Open with amazement.

With that being said, is Jordan the new Tiger Woods? No, I don’t think any current player will be able to eclipse the milestones of Tiger Woods, as I think Jordan will have a similar career to a Phil Mickelson (but Jordan will win the career grand slam).

Let me know what you think in the comments below, will Jordan Spieth win more Majors than Tiger Woods?
